Shut Up

New Years Eve. I'm working tonight, it sucks. I'm guessing it will be really slow at the theater. The first thing I'll be doing in the year 2008 is probably sitting in an office chair rolling coins or counting bills. I might meet up with Josh afterwards. The subway's running until 4 a.m. and I think it's free. Tomorrow is my last day to sleep in before I go back to the Club. I'm really not ready to go back yet. I know every one's probably wondering why I haven't got a job in the film industry yet but the truth is I hate when people ask. To work in the film industry it's all or nothing and right now I can't afford to give it all. Actually I could use a holiday, a real holiday that involves sun, beach, hotels, food, weird lizards, and palm trees. I'm in an angry mood right now because I just watched "Shut up and Sing", the Dixie Chicks documentary. It's so good. I love documentaries. "Grizzly Man" is one of my favorites.

Boxing Day

Kevin and I finally got to hang out, it was like a month since I last seen him. During that month he got engaged!! Congratulations Kevin! So first we went out for Mexican food at this new restaurant that yells at you when you walk in "Welcome to Moes!!!!!". Their food was pretty good. Then we headed to the Eaton Center. That was a big mistake, never go to the Eaton Center on boxing day! It was so packed, Kevin took a picture of all the people from the balcony. When he post's it i'll let you know because it was just crazy how many people were there. So we left as soon as we found an exit. We did some shopping on Queen street, didn't find any good deals, and then took some pictures at this lonely park.
Kevin was here before, he tagged the sign. "Skeptwo".
We kicked that snow gooooood.
We were pretty cold and my little "hot hands" (those warm pouches that stay warm for 10 hours) weren't doing the trick. So we went and got Mocha's from Starbucks.Still cold so we went into this random building and took pictures.
Then we went to Chapters and read books about Africa. Kevin took this picture because the man beside me was sleeping. After we went to the Scotiabank Theater and saw "I am Legend" in Imax!!!!! Kevin calls the escalator to get up to the cinemas "the stairway to heaven". It's such a long escalator. After the movie we were going to go to "Spirits" for some comedy but it was closed for the holidays :( So instead we went to the Yorkdale Mall. Once we got there all the stores were closed but there was still a whack load of people, so we decided just to take creepy pictures of them. The dancing Santa tree.
After Yorkdale we walked to our old hangout Dufferin and Eglinton. It's been a while since I've been there. That's where Andrew used to live, I used to go there almost everyday. It's where we had our railroad adventures and where all the Jamaicans live. Anyway Kevin and I were so hungry and everywhere we went had no food, finally we found this sketchy Chinese restaurant.
Kevin's sweet and sour Chicken Balls. This is how we ended the night.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve.... just sitting around, doing laundry, chewing that old school bubble gum tape, texting, trying to learn the new menu for work, listening to 90's music, and doing blog research. I'm working on the biggest blog entry of all time. I've been working on this entry for a week now, it's not even half done yet. It's keeping me from sleeping. When it's posted I don't expect anyone to read the entire thing, there's too much. I'm turning into a crazy person, once a start I can't stop. Merry Christmas.

HAY-ZEUS

Yesterday was my last day at the club, I'm back Jan. 2nd. It was kind of a sad day because it was Gertrude's last day, she's retiring. She kept leaving the room because she was crying. In honor of her all the supervisors and managers served us lunch, steak, mashed potatoes, lobster bissk (sp?), and Christmas Pudding. Starting in January I'll be taking over her spot in the Blake Lounge for lunch, another private room. The Christmas party was a bit disappointing. The buffet was mostly seafood and I hate seafood. The dessert was just fruit. Fruit is not a dessert! I got a free bottle of wine, $50 gift card to anywhere in the Eaton Center and my bonus cheque. There was an open bar so everyone was drinking like they've never drank before. And then the dancing started. One of the chef's named Jesus asked me to dance and I said "No". I still feel bad for that, there was no one on the dance floor and I really didn't want to. Oh Jesus. He's a funny man. When I first started working there I would ask where I could find things and everyone would say "go ask Jesus". I thought they were just joking around with me, it took me a while to find out his name was really Jesus, pronounced gee-sus, not hay-zeus. So anyway, I was dragged onto the dance floor too many times. I hated it. So I left early to see Josh, aka my new boyfriend just in case you didn't know yet. Hi Josh! He reads my blog, lol.

I work on Christmas day!!! It's in the evening, so I'm thinking this is how Christmas is looking for me, I'm going to sleep in, open my presents, show them to my teddy bear, do whatever on the computer, eat some frosted flakes, maybe talk to a few people on the phone and then leave for work at around 4:00. It will be a bit weird but I'm not worried. As for New Years, I think I'm working New Years Eve and New Years Day. It sucks.
Now here's some Movie Reviews!

August Rush
My Rating: 8/10
IMDB Rating: 7.3/10
I liked this movie even though it was really corny, but I'm a fan of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen movies so who am I kidding. It's not Mary Kate and Ashley Corny it's more, people aren't like that corny. That British kid does a good job of hiding his accent. I thought Robin Williams did a good job too, I forgot it was him. If you have any musical interests, you'll probably enjoy the movie. I'll be buying this one.

P.S. I love You
My Rating: 6/10
IMDB Rating: 6.2/10
Oh man. CHICK FLICK. That's about all I need to say. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll want to go to Ireland to find an Irish man, but mostly you'll wonder when it's going to pick up the pace. Don't think I'd buy it. Not sure if I'd watch it again.

Enchanted
My Rating: 6.5/10
IMDB Rating: 8/10
I heard good comments on this movie so I was expecting to really like it but I didn't. It's kind of funny and unique but it's your typical Disney princess love story, good for little girls, moms with kids (no offence), or hopeless romantics. To be honest that actress annoyed the heck out of me.

JunoMy Rating: 9/10
IMDB Rating: 8.6/ 10
This movie was really funny. The Humour reminded me a bit of Little Miss Sunshine meets Superbad. It's about this 16 year old girl who gets pregnant by this nerdy kid and she decided to give it up for adoption. The story's is about her relationship with the adoptive parents, her family, the dad, an how she copes with pregnancy as a corky teenager. Tamara you should see this one. There are just some parts when I felt they were trying too hard to make it funny. Other than that, it was a good movie. Good acting, good story, and good music for the most part.
Awake
My Rating: 6/10
IMDB Rating: 6.4/10
This movie takes place on a hospital bed. You won't remember anything else but seeing his heart being operated on, and the beginning sequence where you see Hayden's face underwater in a bath tub for like 5 minutes. It's a bit suspenseful but for the most part it drags on and is kind of boring.

Survey

The Christmas Survey That Everyone is Doing
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper
2. Real tree or artificial? If I was at home, fake. If I had enough space here I'd get a fake one too.

4. When do you take the tree down? Before my birthday, it's so sad when the tree is taken down.
5. Do you like egg nog? No, it's disgusting.

8. Hardest person to buy for? Dad

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Can't remember.
12. Favorite Christmas Movie? Home Alone and Frosty the Snowman.

23. Favorite ornament, theme or color? I really don't care, as long as there's no popcorn on the tree.

25. What do you want for Christmas this year? Nothing much. I asked for gift certificates because there easy to send in the mail.

Ma ma ma Merry Christmas.

Done, Done and Done!

The toilet is fixed! Apparently they were both broken, I just didn't notice. Today I finished up my Christmas shopping, wrapped them all, and then sent them off. $58 to send them away!!! The line up at the post office was insane. Actually the line up to get into Coach was insane. Not that I was planning on going in, I just saw this massive line at the Yorkdale mall and I followed it to see where it led.... Coach. I bought a dress for the staff Christmas party for the National Club. I found the perfect one for only $40. I'm not looking forward to this party. It involves dinner and dancing, and we all know my passion for dancing. You know those people who say they don't dance but dance all the time alone in front of the mirror, I can't even do that. It's to painful to watch myself attempt any sort of move. So I plan to hang out at the dessert table and just talk with the others who don't want to dance. I'll also be laughing at my drunk coworkers as they take advantage of the open bar. I've been warned that I'm going to see a lot of old women cleavage that night. I'll leave you with that image.

Update:

My room mates just had a huge fight, all four of them swearing and yelling at each other. It started when one of them had the hockey game on too loud so another went and knocked on his door and asked him to turn it down, his response was slamming his door in the others face. My landlords had to come down to calm them down. They all separated, one went outside, another started mopping the floor, the others went to their rooms, 30 minutes later they were all playing PlayStation, drinking beer, and laughing together. Men? They confuse me.

Frustration

Complaining time. My landlords still haven't fixed the toilet. One of my room mates who lived here for a while said it probably wont get fixed for weeks because they're lazy. One of the burners on the stove stopped working a few years ago and they still haven't even looked at it. Now the shower head holder cracked and the shower head won't even stay in place. I wonder if we should even bother to tell our landlords. Also one of the landlords comes and does her laundry in our house and leaves her clothes there for days. Because she's a girl and I'm the only girl I keep having my room mates knock on my door asking me to take my laundry. It's not mine, ahhhh!!!!! On the plus side, I just discovered we have a walk in sauna. It's beside the other bathroom, the one that works. I don't know if the sauna works but it's weird that I never noticed it before.

The Princess Wales Theater

So I went and saw Sweeney Todd with a friend last night. It was really good. It was my first time seeing a musical, besides the Cal musicals. The actors were very talented. They could sing, act, and they each played about three different instruments. We were actually late because of traffic, we missed the first five minutes. So we couldn't go to our original seats we had to go up in the balcony. Actually in the picture below is about where we were.

Little Man in a Suit

Today at work it was a regular day. We served lunch to The Economics Club and then we cleared the room while they had their speech. I think it was John Baird speaking, the Minister of Environment Canada. Anyway the boys went to work upstairs and Des and I stayed outside the kitchen where she was teaching me how to knit. All of a sudden we heard yelling from the main dining room and this little man in a suit was thrown from the room in front of me and Des. He was a protester who ran to the front during the ministers speech with a huge sign saying "Liar". One of the Economic Club leaders grabbed him and threw him into the kitchen with us. The reason it was a big deal was because there was tuns of media recording the speech and there were protesters outside the club, and some how this little guy made it inside. So that was a little bit of excitement for the day.

Room Mates

I finally get a chance to sleep and my room mates decided to be friggin idiots. They're gathered in the hall in front of my door talking about ninja turtles. Sometimes when they're loud like this I return the favor when I'm getting ready for work the next morning. Oh... now they're talking about polar bears above sea level. Our toilet is broken so now it's all five of us sharing one bathroom. Fun times.

dkshgffkdjs

Hey people. Sarah's back in blog world but no new entry's. I was thinking about saying I'll shave my head if she ever updates, but she might just do it. My Christmas shopping has begun slowly but I have a feeling I won't get it done in time because I'm working too much. Sending packages to BC takes two weeks. Express takes 3 days but it costs so much. I just bought myself $100 boots. They're not even that nice, but they're soooo warm. After weeks of not being able to find the right ones, and walking in 10 cm of snow to get to the subway in my running shoes, I decided price didn't mater. I'm working so much lately so I have some extra money. Got to go.
