The Blue Devils

Last night Josh and I were walking to my house from the subway and it was so friggin cold so we started running, then we started racing which was a huge mistake. My foot got caught on his some how and and I tripped. I fell hard on my knees and then on my hands and slid. It hurt pretty bad but I just started laughing because I saw the neighbour watching from out his window and I must have looked pretty ridiculous. I ripped my gloves and my knees are pretty bruised. Poor Josh thinks it's his fault.
So I have my first official soccer game tomorrow. My team is "The Blue Devils" which I find kind of weird because the league is called "Saint Michael's". My game's at 10 pm which I'm kind of angry about. It's so late and it takes me at least an hour and a half to get home by bus and subway. Anyways, good night!

Oscar Results

If you did the math you would know that Josh and I tied on our Oscar predictions!!! If I won he would have had to watch "Across the Universe" with me. Since we tied I wont put him through that torture and since he couldn't think of a consequence for me it doesn't really matter anyway. Ummm I was going to write a bigger post but TV sounds much better, sorry.

Happy Family Day

Today is Family Day, this is a statutory holiday in Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta. Today I had no work instead I met Josh's mom for the first time and his brother and sister for the second. They live in Orangeville which is a little ways out of Toronto, past Mississauga. Right now in Toronto there is this thing called Winterlicious which is when a bunch of really good restaurants have really good deals all over the city. We hit up one of those restaurants and then went and saw "Coraline" in 3D. Cool movie... different. Yesterday I had my first indoor soccer game. We don't have teams yet, they just watched us play and are going to divide us in to teams evenly. It was so great to play again. My skills just need to be tuned up and I NEED to get in shape. Tomorrow I'm waking up at 5 am to go jogging before work, I feel a little more motivated. Everyone was really nice. Most of them looked about my age or late 20's. I met one girl on the bus who was playing too and we've become bus buddies since everyone else has a car. I'm glad I found her because waiting for the bus late at night can get a little scary. Just a week ago at the same intersection where I wait to get home there was a shooting.
In case you haven't heard yet... Amanda's pregnant!!!!!! I actually knew this since New Years but I was sworn to secrecy. I find myself already thinking about little baby things I could send her. Amanda was always the first to do everything. The first to get a boyfriend, the first to move away, and now the first to get pregnant!! Have you ever seen the movie "Where the Heart Is"? In the movie Natalie Portman's character has a baby in Walmart and names her Americus. Amanda swore after that if she ever had a girl she would name it Americus, she loved that name. I asked her about it, and now that she's a few years older she doesn't remember swearing to anything. Lol.
Summer's slowly getting closer... I want to go somewhere I've never been but Josh wants to go back to Terrace. For some reason he really likes it there, every Ontario bred and born loves BC with all their heart. Of course I wouldn't mind going back either but I was there 3 times last year, it's even cheaper to go to Florida, Cuba, or some where warm like that. Maybe I'll try to do both. Anyone want to go somewhere nice with me in the summer?
Anyway, I hope that makes up for my lack of posts. My next post will be up soon, Josh and I's Oscar predictions!!!!!!!

Hi

I've been busy and my Internet was having some problems last week, that's my excuse for not posting. Anyways I went to the dentist today. I pretty much go to the dentist every month. Besides the root canal and getting ready for gum surgery I have four cavities!!! It's not like I have a disgusting mouth, I brush and floss everyday, I think it's my bad habit of eating bad food before bed. I will try to do better.
I joined indoor soccer!!!!!! I'm really excited and extremely scared at the same time. I miss soccer so much, it's been almost three years since I played. The reason I'm scared is because I'm extremely out of shape and I don't have time to get in shape for soccer. Another reason is it's really far away. It takes me an hour from my house to get there, I have to take the subway, get on a bus and then switch buses. My games are on Sunday nights sometimes as late as 10pm and it's located in Scarborough. As Kevin C puts it, Scarborough is the "bum hole" of Toronto.
Valentines day is coming up, so is tax season. There's no escaping either of them. I told Josh, no gifts for V-day except a box of chocolates because end of October was our 1 year anniversary, December was Christmas, January was my B-day, April is his, and that's just too many gifts to buy each other during half a year.

Movie Reviews

ValkryieMy Rating: 7/10
IMDB Rating: 7.5/10

I thought this movie would be lame, but I guess it was better than I thought. It's suspenseful and shows what it might have been like for the Germans who followed Hitler. The most annoying part, however is how Tom still talks with his American accent and no one else does. Whatever.

Revolutionary Road
My Rating: 7/10
IMDB Rating: 7.9/10

I enjoyed this movie. It's one of those drama's that drags on some times but it is a story of this "perfect" couple who has bigger issues than other people can see. Oh Leo and Kate, you were meant to be together.

Pineapple Express
My Rating: 6/10
IMDB Rating: 7.4/10

I think I fell asleep during part of it. For the part I was awake I thought it was ok, I guess I'm just getting kind of sick of Seth Rogen's humour. If your a male or a stoner you would enjoy this movie, I am neither.

Gran Torino My Rating: 9/10
IMDB Rating: 8.5/10

I really liked this movie. It had drama, action, conflict, and surprisingly a lot of humour. The way Clint Eastwood talks in this movie will make him one of those iconic movie characters. It's a must see.

Defiance

My Rating: 6/10
IMDB Rating: 7.5/10

Umm, it was mildly entertaining. It's about a group of Jews hiding in the forest trying to survive during the war. You can probably guess how the movie will go, there will be a few romances, some of them might get killed, they will struggle to survive with nothing, etc, etc. Kind of predictable but it was alright.

Seven Pounds

My Rating: 7.5/10
IMDB Rating: 7.5/10

Inspiring and heartbreaking. At first you don't really understand what's going on but it all make sense in the end. I guess at the end of the movie it makes you want to be a better person.

The Reader
My Rating: 7/10
IMDB Rating: 7.9/10
Another tragic love story. I'm still trying to decide if I like it. It was very well done but it seemed that it was laking something. Because I just said that it will probably win the Oscar for Best Picture.

Taken
My Rating: 7/10
IMDB Rating: 8/10

This movie was great for a thriller, not too much action and not to much complicated story line. The reason it lost points from me was because it felt way too short and you rarely got to see the point of view of the daughter who was kidnapped. Instead it was all Liam Neeson trying to find his daughter and killing everyone who got in his way.
