The Empire Sandy

Yesterday I went to that convention on hyperbaric treatment to film. It was a pretty long day. We used 14 tapes, that's 14 hours of footage!!!!! So after the convention we went on the Empire Sandy, Canada's largest sail boat. That was incredible!!! The sky was so beautiful, the moon was gold, and we even passed by the Chinese festival of lights which looked amazing. And the dinner was amazing too; roast beef, potatos, gravy, salads, and chocolate cheese cake! I was so mad I forgot my digital camera because I wanted to post some pictures but we filmed for the convention so I kind of stole the tape and took some of the footage. Enjoy.

Busy, busy

Why am I blogging right now??? I have a zillion things to do. I'm getting extremley exhausted and I've only been in school with my new classes for a week now. This is what a typical day looks like for me; 7:00 a.m. I wake up and get ready, 9:00 I take the subway to school, 10:00 school begins, 4:00 school ends, 5:45 off to work, done at 11:30, then take the subway and get home at around 12:30, once I get home I do my homework, then eventually get to sleep around 2:00 if I'm lucky. There are also other things that I some how manage to sneak in, like meeting with Anita to discuss our documentary we're planning on making, and meeting with Evan for the filming jobs we've been doing. Speaking of the filming jobs, on Friday is when I go shoot that doctors convention thing. This is the ship we get to go on after!!!!I'm excited but scared since I won't really fit in with the crowd. I'll probably just hide behind the camera the whole time. Some more good news!!! A big producer/director came and talked to our class and afterwards he went to the school director and mentioned that he wanted to hire a few of the students for his upcoming film in a few months and asked which students the school recommends. Believe it or not, they gave him my name!!!! So, it's not like I got the job or anything, I'm just garunteed and interview. Who even knows what the job is, probably a P.A. (aka: getting people coffee). Sooo, mabey my life is about to get even more busier.

Ouch

Oh my goodness.... I've been so busy lately. I 'm getting tuns of homework, working 6 days a week!!!, I have two little filming jobs I'm doing on the side, I have a huge to do list of things around the house, and a bunch of girls and I are planning a film to submit to NFB (may not happen). To make things worse, yesterday I climbed up on my desk to hook up my printer and lost my balance. I ended up falling off, hitting my face on the corner of the desk and having my monitor fall on top of me. The entire right side of my chest is black, so is my leg, all the way down my arm to my wrist, and my cheek. I look like I've been severly beat up, as you can see in the picture, and that wasn't even the worst of it. I've been taking advil.

Back to School

Today was my first day back at school. When I started in April I was the only student so they moved me to join the class in third term, so now I'm starting at the beginning in first term. My new class has 30 students!!!!! 4 girls and 26 guys. Most of them are from different parts of the world, like Japan, the U.S. and probably some more I havn't met yet.
Change of topic, I got another little filming gig. Me and the same guy who did the makeup video with me get to go to a hospital for some doctors convention and film the speaker so he can be seen on the big screen. After that they all go on a dinner cruise and we get to go with them!!!! They want us to film them on the cruise ship but we get to eat dinner with them. And I get paid!!!

Nothing much

So, Sean Penn didn't show up. Everyone was pretty disapointed. They even steam cleaned the seats and painted in the theatre he was going to be in. I thought it was a little too much, he's just an actor.

I really can't think of anything to blog about. Umm, Survivor starts on Thursday. Yay. It kind of sucks having satellite, I can't stop watching it. It's like I havn't eaten in a long time and someone just put a huge turkey dinner in front of me. Well, I better do something useful. c ya.

Sean Penn

I am telling you all top secret information that I over heard at work today. Tonight Sean Penn is coming to the theater where I work!! I've never seen the theater so clean in my entire life. They made me clean things that didn't even need cleaning. All the managers are acting like Jesus is coming. No one tell the paparazzi, it's top secret!!! LOL. Unfortunately I finished work already so I don't get to see him, oh well.

Ok, I'll post some pictures of the stuff I bought yesterday, but it will be boring.

Here's the toilet brush. How beautiful.And here's the scale. I finally got the guts to step on it, I'm exactly the same as when I left B.C. I was hoping it would be a little less, but what can I expect with all that fast food I eat. Knives!!! I wanted to stick each knife in between my fingers so that I looked like Wolverine but I had difficulty taking the picture. Pots. Ikea even makes you put these together. I bought the utensil holder thing, the same one that probably is in every household. I bought the cushion you see on the chair. The chair was kind of uncomfortable, but not anymore!! My landlords gave me two chairs. I think they were feeling sorry for me. They also gave me a big piece of wood and two of thoughs horse things so I could put my computer on something. That saved me money on buying a desk and it works great. I also bought that mouse pad for only 99 cents. Oh, and Tamara, I told you I would use your picture as my desktop background. Hangers. Yessssss.Here's the dresser before. It looked a little overwhelming for me, but once I got started it was a sinch. Yep.

And after (I was watching Beverly Hills 90210).Things I didn't take pictures of; a tool set, an iron board, a dish rack, plates, bowls, and I think that's it. Yep.

Ikea

Today was almost as tiring as moving day. I went to Ikea and filled a cart with all sorts of things. I mostly bought kitchen stuff and a few other items. The only piece of furniture I bought was a TV stand and a dresser. I still need a bed, but I'm kind of getting used to sleeping on the floor. I'll see how long I can wait it out. I feel really bad, I called a Taxi to pick me up with all my stuff at Ikea and as we were loading the trunk the cart tipped over from the wind and hit the Taxi. There was a pretty big dent in the side of the door. Three girls who witnessed the whole thing started glaring at me and were like "Oh my God, she should have to pay for that" . The Taxi driver was like "whatever". So I'm glad he didn't get mad. Technically it wasn't my fault, it was the wind. Anyway, I still haven't set up the dresser or TV stand (I'm too tired), but I did buy tools so maybe I'll do it tomorrow. One of my purchases was a weight scale. I haven't weighed myself since I left B.C. I'm a little nervous to see what my weight is. I have no idea if it went up or down. Yes... so after Ikea I had the biggest craving for KFC. Ironic. And so I went to KFC and stuffed my face. Don't buy the chicken fries, they're gross. Yes... I'm struggling to find the words to end this post. Ok. I'm done.

Subway

Today I bought myself a book!!!! Now that I have to take the subway back and forth I thought I should get a book to read. The book is a biography on Apsley Cherry-Garrard, a man who was on an expedition to Antartica in 1910. It was only $5, so I thought "What the heck!". When I'm on the subway I usually just observe people which can get annoying after I start noticing everyone's little habits. Yesterday I sat beside this guy who was wearing overalls with no shirt underneath and a Viking hat with huge horns, across from me a man rolled up a little piece of paper and started cleaning his ears with it, and on the other side of me sat a man who looked like he was a serial killer looking for his next victim. It was in that moment that I decided to buy a book.

Adjusting

I have gotten used to having no furniture, I just havn't adjusted to having no kitchen supplies. I've been surviving off of crackers and peanut butter. Since I have no knives I spread the peanut butter on with my finger. And I still havn't gotten around to exploring the area, I'm not sure what stores and stuff are around here. I hope there is a grocery store. Living here I can forget sleeping in now. The family above me have two little boys, a 4 and a 6 year old. They are always up really early running around and screaming, but soon I'll be up early too for school. Ahhhhhhhhh, I see another spider!! I have to go!!!

A new location

I am finally in my new place!!! Today had to be the most exhausting day I have had in a long time. After only 4 hours of sleep I woke up at 8 and begun packing. During that process some how the toilet stopped working. After like a half an hour I got it working again, that would have sucked if I lost my damage deposit on day I was leaving because of some stupid toilet! Then around 2 I called a taxi and I brought half of my belongings to my new place. The taxi was completely full, they even had to tie down the trunk. Then I went back for the second load, which was just as much. Once I had all my stuff in my new place I just stood there and looked at the walls, I didn't know what to do next. I ended up eating some carrots and then the unpacking began. I am not even close to finishing but I think I did enough for the day. I work all weekend so I have to go a few days without any furniture or kitchen supplies of any kind, good thing there is a McDonald's down the street :) Anyway I'm pretty happy about this place, but I've only been here for like 4 hours so that could change. I already discovered 2 bad things, I can't get any reception on my cell phone, I have to go outside to get reception and there are a large number of little spiders running around my bathroom. Spiders are my worst enemy. Here's some pictures.

It's a bachelors suite so there is just one big room. There's all my stuff that needs to be unpacked!!

One thing that had to be unpacked asap was my computer. If your wondering if it's comfortable going on the computer the way it's set up like this, it's not!!!! My back is killing me. I will have a desk and chair soon (I hope!).
