Wow
Check out this picture of the Stewart Highway that Amanda sent me. Incredible!
It was the most amazing night at work tonight. There was a huge Rotary Club fundraiser that was James Bond theme. There were several events that took place in different rooms all around the building. There was a Mediterranean room where there was a Mediterranean buffet and a performance by River Dancers! In another room was South Africa, which I believe had belly dancers. And in the room I was working in was the Asian room where they served sushi and there were traditional Chinese dancers with big fans and then there was a women who played one of those Chinese guitar things. Then in the main room was the British room, where I also worked. In there was a ground lit dance floor, a 007 ice sculpture, a live jazz band accompanied but a Frank Sinatra wannabe, several stages with half naked women and men in tuxedos dancing together, white screens with dancers behind them, Bond Girls that strolled around, the biggest dessert buffet I've ever seen in my life, an open bar in ever single room, a sangria fountain, huge TV screens in every corner where live video feed from the dance floor was shown and the list goes on and on. It was amazing, I've never seen anything like it. Everyone was dressed like they were going to the Academy Awards. The best part was at the end when I got to hit the dessert buffet, ohhhhhhhh goodness. All my supervisors were pretty drunk and didn't care what we did. They always offer the staff drinks on the job, is that allowed? Actually the best part was that I was making $18 dollars and hour, when I would have done it for the dessert. Also I just heard that Arnold Swartzanagger (sp?) will be coming to The National Club in May sometime. They probably won't let me work, they'll probably get all the old ladies who have been there for 30 years to serve him.
I want to complain now. Tuesday I worked 10 and a half hours, Wednesday I worked 10 hours, Thursday I worked 15 hours, and Friday I worked 15 hours. I could hardly make it home last night, my feet hurt so bad and I was so exhausted. Today I work but not until 5:00 p.m. so I finally get to rest! Today when I work, since it's a weekend, I get paid time and a half! My new job at the National Club sure gives me a lot of hours, almost too many, but the money is really helping me and I work with a lot of really nice people.
Today I was having one of those horrible days. First I woke up at 5:00 a.m. for work. When I woke up my throat was swollen and incredibly sore. Then at work I spilled coffee all over myself and one of the pastry chefs yelled at me because I put his muffins on the wrong table. Arrr. Then I went to my other job at 11:45 a.m. The day was so long and boring. I had a massive head ache the entire time. Then on my way home the subways were so packed, I couldn't even move. Then as I was walking home, carrying 500 pounds of groceries, my noise started to bleed. Finally when I got home, there it was.... my late birthday package from Tamara!!! It definitely cheered me up. THANKS TAMARA! She sent me so much amazing stuff, some of the items were, wheat crunch (we thought they were extinct), those $3 boxes of chocolate mints, chap stick, a magazine, socks, etc, etc, etc. Yes, my day is a little better now. I bought some bug killer and a new air mattress so things are looking up.
I'm soooo fed up with pumping up my air mattress every single night before I go to sleep. That's it, I want a real bed!!!!!!! I also am fed up with my eating and spending habits too. I must make a drastic change or I'm going to end up huge and homeless. Speaking of homeless, when I go to work at the National Club I always walk past the same five homeless people lying in their sleeping bag on the sidewalk. They're not all old disgusting heroin addicts either, some of them are very young. When I'm rich I'm going to build a homeless shelter and take those people in. I can't even imagine sleeping on a sidewalk everyday with nothing.
So my weekend of filming has come to an end. It went pretty well, now the fun part of editing begins. During the shoot we went down to Andrew's garage and found "Dr. Ho's" (sp?), it's those little sticky pads you stick on your skin and then electric current pulses through you. It was pretty funny what that thing could make 20 year old guys do, lol. When you put it on each side of your hand, your fingers move uncontrollably like they're possessed or something. Fun times. Tomorrow I have to wake up at 5:00 a.m. to get ready for work. Ohhhhh man, I have to wake up that early for the next three days. I am no longer a morning person. I forgot to mention I didn't get that job promotion I applied for. It's not that big of a deal, I wasn't even going to apply for it until a few of the managers encouraged me to. Whatever. Now I'm going to advertise for Steve Simons's picture blog. Seriously you should check it out (on my side bar), his photography has really impressed me.
Dad, below is your youtube birthday video.
I just missed it but April 10th was my one year anniversary living in Toronto. It's so hard to believe I've been here for an entire year. I've met a lot of great people and had many life changing moments. No regrets. Warning.... Major amount of pictures.
Tamara, this one's for you since I never do these questionnaires and you are the quiz questionnaire thing goddess.
Happy Easter. So yesterday at work I saw Stacey Farber (sp?), she is Eli from "Degrassi The Next Generation". This is the second time I've seen her now. I ripped her ticket and told her she'd be in number eight, and she said "Thank you". She was watching "Blades of Glory". So that was my little celebrity spotting. Not much else is new, I'm still working every single day. I think my ant problem is almost over with. I haven't seen any in a few days. Another problem is my air mattress. I pump it up every night and when I wake up it's completely deflated. It's getting really annoying. I'm going to buy a new one once I have some time. I patched the hole, but it still deflates, I think there's another hole somewhere. Oh, I'm applying for a treasurer position at work (the theater). It means I will get more hours, more money, I don't have to wear a uniform (instead business type clothes), and I work in the office. I don't know if I'll get it because there's another girl who is applying that has done it at another theater before. But the general manager came up to me and told me I should apply, along with many others, so it's hard to say. If I don't get it, it's ok because I still love working the box office. I forgot to mention I sliced my finger pretty good this morning. I opened a can of soup and cut my index finger on the lid. It was bleeding for like an hour. It one of those annoying cuts that make it impossible to put a bandaid on it unless your creative with three or four of them. Wow, this blog entry is all over the place!
I apologize ahead of time for I will rarely be seen in blog land for a while. I'm working every single everyday starting tomorrow and next week we're going to start filming Andrew's project "Jack the Sitter". We still have so much to do, we're still auditioning actors. Oh man, if it wasn't for that package my mom and dad sent me in the mail I would have forgot it was Easter this weekend. I feel like I'm Jewish or something, I never celebrate the holidays anymore. On the bright side, I'll be making some serious money. Last night I went and helped Stefano at the school with his film. It was nice to be back there. I'm going again today. Kevin drew some graffiti stuff on my arm, cool hey! And Tim just got a tattoo on his arm. I'm really wanting a tattoo. Tamara, this summer! Speaking of Tamara... I promise I'll post the uniform pictures once things slow down a bit.
Holy Moly it's 2 a.m!!!! Seriously I've been so busy lately that 2 a.m. is the only time I have to check my e-mail, read every ones blog and if I'm not too tired, write my own. I've worked 10 days in a row. Sometimes both jobs in one day and sometimes the closing shift at the theater, which means I'm off at one, which means I get home around two. In between work I go to Andrew's and watch "Full House". We are determined to watch every single episode. So far we completed two seasons in a week or so. The dishes are piling up, the spiders are making their webs, everything is dusty, I just have nooooo time to do this stuff. Working two jobs is tiring but it will be worth it once I start seeing the money. I have a few days off coming up so I plan to take the uniform pictures then and post them. I thought I had more to say but I guess that's it. Bye.
